Expertise
About the Place Ltd was created by Oliver O’Dell. The company draws upon over 15 years experience of working with businesses, local communities and stakeholder partnerships in towns, cities, regeneration and rural areas.
Oliver combines a professional planning and economic development background with an intimate knowledge of how places work as commercial centres, visitor destinations and community hubs. He also brings to the table a detailed understanding of the intricacies of partnership work and its recognised phases of development, from initial enthusiasm to dreaded partnership fatigue. His experience includes senior management in the public sector and chief executive positions for independent town and city centre management companies.
Oliver has a great enthusiasm for innovative thinking and a commitment to unlocking monies from bureaucratic funding programmes. His attention to detail and strategic knowledge often ensures that projects draw attention, generate local “ownership” and support from a range of local stakeholders.
By necessity, Oliver has developed a working knowledge of funding programmes and has been very successful in securing funding for a wide range of projects from a variety of sources. These include government, domestic and European programmes. His Grant School © concept is a mission to further support the uninitiated in winning grant funding.
