The need for town centre management to evolve is greater than ever.  Partnerships need to deal effectively with the negative impact of the recession, increasing aspirations of the local community and the pressure to employ an individual.  About the Place has created three flexible packages to support partnerships at different stages of evolution, including those weighing up the pros and cons of employing a town centre manager.

Oliver O'Dell said "We recognise the dilemma faced by partnerships, as expectation increases and volunteer resources become stretched.  What starts as community spirit and a desire for self sufficiency can easily become a millstone of expectation and concern not to disappoint.  At some stage, volunteers need guidance and support, not necessarily from the public sector, and resources (mainly funding) as a catalyst to deliver projects on-the-ground."
