Variety is the spice of life
Place-shaping does not really have any boundaries when it comes to subject matter as we are beginning to prove...
The reason that we love our job is that "place-shaping" is a concept without boundaries. In recent months, we have undertaken work across a number of subjects, ranging from supporting rural issues through to work with a prison, a historic building and a historic market. We are about to add public art as another theme . Throw in some economic development and you have a heady mix of business engagement, fund-finding, partnership evaluation and creative marketing.
The firm foundation of all of this good work is to understand the place, the context and the community within which we work. Once we build up an understanding of the place and how it works, we can seek to gain a grass-roots ownership of what we are suggesting. This in turn secures the best chance of creating a project legacy, once we have gone or once intial funding comes to an end.
Like we said, we love our job. Our recent grant successes for clients prove that we can apply common principles in a bespoke fashion to many subjects. Retention of our services, to support the implementation of some of our funding work, proves that we gain a trust in delivery that runs deeper than a parachute mission. Once initial contract constraints allow us to speak freely about grant success we will blog.
